Rumi, Still Connecting Hearts Today

Rumi was born in Persia on September 30, 1207 and lived till December 17, 1273.    He was a 13th century muslim poet, jurist, theologian and sufi mystic.  Rumi's spiritual legacy has continued to touch the hearts of many people over the last seven centuries.

The esteemed Rumi is honored as one whose works have gone beyond the boundaries of cultural differences worldwide.  In 2007 Rumi was portrayed as the most popular poet in America.

Rumi's exemplification of his life was awe inspiring.  His message was to live in peace and harmony with one another enlightened in love.
Rumi's knowledge has connected with the human heart.

I affirm that Rumi saw into the soul of people and that enabled him to live without barriers.  The lessons in living life in tranquility and benevolence that Rumi taught has passionately united people of all faiths and beliefs.  I feel as Rumi, that love is the foundation from which all  stems from.  All You Need Is Love.

With strong conviction Rumi felt that poetry was one avenue to unite with God.  He also believed that the use of music and dance was an artery to connect with God.

From Wikipedia: "For Rumi, music helped devotees to focus their whole being on the divine and to do this so intensely that the soul was both destroyed and resurrected. It was from these ideas that the practice of whirling Dervishes developed into a ritual form.

"His teachings became the base for the order of the Mevlevi which his son Sultan Walad organized. Rumi encouraged Sama, listening to music and turning or doing the sacred dance. In the Mevlevi tradition, samāʿ represents a mystical journey of spiritual ascent through mind and love to the Perfect One. In this journey, the seeker symbolically turns towards the truth, grows through love, abandons the ego, finds the truth and arrives at the Perfect. The seeker then returns from this spiritual journey, with greater maturity, to love and to be of service to the whole of creation without discrimination with regard to beliefs, races, classes and nations."

The inscription on Rumi's gravestone reads:  "When we are dead, seek not our tomb in the earth, but find it in the hearts of men."

Let us see the soul of one another and live in pure love, as Rumi lived his life.

With much love,
Alice

Why are Quotes so Popular?

I enjoy reading quotes everyday. In fact, I am so fond of them that I have a facebook page dedicated to sharing uplifting quotes with my followers. Why do you suppose millions of people delight in reading them everyday?

Personally spiritual quotes and motivational quotes supply my heart with a peace that is from the inside out. I am fond of all quotes that enhance the development of my inner self. I believe that we are all connected and this common vein that flows through each one of us
craves peace and contentment from within. We desire to feel love and quotes definitely give us that feeling of love and of hope.

We live in a world where what seems to really matter is how much you can acquire, how many "things" you have. It's as though we are looked upon and judged based on material wealth when our soul is linked to a higher power and this power operates totally different from the perspective of the world. Uplifting quotes help to give us that feeling we long for which is directly connected to where we came from.

Deep down inside of us we want our hearts to be filled with joy and love. The world doesn't operate from this place. The world wants to draw us in to think that outside in brings peace and happiness when truly it is found from the inside out. Quotes of wisdom fill a space that we yearn for.

One of my favorite quotes from Zig Ziglar: Life Is An Echo
"What you send out, comes back. What you sow, you reap. What you give, you get. What you see in others, exists in you. Do not judge, so you will not be judged. Radiate and give LOVE, and love comes back to you."

Quotes by Rumi speak to me with such passion. Here is one of his amazing quotes: "When you do things from your soul, you feel like a river moving in you, a joy."

Living from your highest self in harmony with God, you view the world differently. The awareness of being in the world and not of it grants you the ability to give and receive unconditional love. This is the place where your soul is nurtured.

As you live your life filled with happiness from the inside out, you may find yourself saying, " It is well with my soul.".

Your life will evolve into a motivational quote of its own.

With much love,

Oprah's Super Soul Sunday & Me

The Oprah Winfrey Network launched at a time in my life when I was searching for genuine inner peace.

Life had become very confusing and I longed to have my heart filled with unconditionl love, peace, joy and happiness. I was reading many quotes as I was seeking answers on how to attain what my heart and soul yearned for.

Then, Oprah's network came into my life! I knew God heard my prayers and delivered a gift to me in Super Soul Sunday! This is where I have been introduced to many spiritual leaders. The first teachers made known to me were Dr. Wayne Dyer and Rev. Ed Bacon. They both have been influencial on my journey, along with many others.

I would record EVERY spiritual show that Oprah had and I watched each one of them with paper and pen in hand. I could feel the heaviness in my heart being lifted as I felt an infusion of hope flow through me. I took a lot of notes as everything seemed to speak to me!

Through my transformation here is some of what I have come to know. Be present, be in the moment. When you make the choice to allow your heart to be filled with gratitude, being truly thankful for where you are right now, you begin to experience what inner peace feels like.

With Oprah's network as one source where I have obtained invaluable insight from, I've learned that everything is about choice and feeling. They are completely connected. When your heart is filled with gratitude, you are able to give thanks for everything that happens in your life and able to perceive it as an opportunity to grow closer to God. It's my belief that the Divine is the source of all things. When this happens a shift begins to occur from within. I believe this is why happiness is found from the inside out.

My personal experience in reconnecting to God was when I began to understand that it was quite possible the reason that I had endured this type of hopelessness was to bring me back into alignment with my source. I had to undergo the break down in order to unite in an intimate relationship with God as I emerged in the break through. Today, I choose to take the path of least resistance with the intention to live in balance with God. In doing so I find that my life is a gentle ebb and flow, filled with inner peace. Thank you Oprah for the vision of the OWN network and for placing your intention on bringing it to fruition.

God is love and Oprah's Super Soul Sunday exudes love! I also look forward to SoulPancake each week as it's awesome! If you are looking for a way to connect with God and grow in your faith, Oprah's Super Soul Sunday is definitely an avenue in which you will receive your very own spiritual transformation to living your life with intention and purpose.

With much love,
Alice
